As the inscription on the statue reads, This sculpture is of Leifr Eiriksson and he is believed to be the first European to set foot in North America. It is a copy of a sculpture that was given to the people of iceland by the United States Government in 1930.

My friends and I were driving on the 17 Mile Drive on our way to Carmel by the Sea. We stopped a few times along the way to take some photos. Here is a picture of the coastline with those cool rocks.
